Home Heating Assistance Program
At its May 20th meeting, the Bowdoinham Select Board approved the Bowdoinham Home Heating Assistance Program. The program, funded entirely from private and business donations as well as fundraising efforts, will be available to town residents whose income is within 250% of the federal poverty guidelines. With the high cost of heating fuel, these funds are intended to be for residents who don’t normally qualify for programs such as General Assistance or the federal LIHEAP program. The Board believes that with the rising cost of fuel, many residents, including the town’s elderly citizens, will be struggling to heat their homes this coming winter. To make a donation, or inquire about eligibility, call Kathy Durgin-Leighton, Town Manager at 666-5531.
