*This year Merrymeeting Trail Initiative and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust are sponsoring their 4th Annual Explore Merrymeeting Bay Bike Ride on Open Farm Day.  They are expanding the event to include three led bike ride options for a range of abilities and interests: at 10am is an 8mile ride, at 11:30am is a 40 mile ride and at noon is a 24 mile ride. All three led rides will leave from Mailly Waterfront Park in Bowdoinham.

 

(1)  Campo di Fiori

212 Fisher Rd

9am-4pm.  Come explore Andrew’s naturalistic gardens, an experimental hybrid hazelnut orchard and new nursery. Melissa Fiori will be displaying her work from 10am to 12pm, before joining the group at Watersong Music at 1pm.

 

(2)   Apple Creek Farm

448 Millay Rd

9:30am-12pm. Enjoy pasture walks and meeting the livestock.  Products will be available for sale including, pre-orders for geese and turkeys.

 

(3)   Gruff Acres Farm

919 Post Rd

10am-3pm. Come see the beautiful  gardens, meet the goats, alpacas & hens, try some goat meat and homemade cheese samples and see Diana Mosher’s cards and paintings. 

 

(4)    Havenridge Farm

727 Ridge Road

9am-3pm. Tour Dick & Debbie's gardens, visit their herd of Lowline Angus Cattle and newborn calves, and see Debbie Spaulding’s beautiful quilts.

 

(5)    Life Force Farm

 71 Carlson Cross Road

 1-4pm. Come meet farmer Ben and tour his organic vegetable farm located in the heart of Bowdoinham.  Tours will start at 1, 2 and 3pm.

 

(6)    Blue Bell Farm

767 Carding Machine Rd

12-4pm. Tour the hoop-houses, perennial fruit plantings, and bring your birding binoculars for a stroll through the back field.

 

(7)   Stonecipher Farm

1186 River Rd

12-3pm.  Visit Ian, feed the baby goats, and run around in the giant sprinkler (weather permitting).

 

(8)    Fairwinds Farm

554 Browns Point Rd

9am-12pm. Tour Pete & Cathy’s Bowdoinham fields and enjoy some samples of fruit shortcake.

 

(9)    Six River Farm

513 Browns Point Rd, please park by the greenhouses.

9am-12pm. Come discover a diverse array of vegetables, berries, herbs and cut flowers along Merrymeeting Bay. 

 

Morphee Creations will be joining Six River Farm with a variety of her unique items from paper products and home decor to clothing.  Come see how she makes her creations!

 

(9)    Left Field Farm

         513 Browns Point Rd, please park by the greenhouses.

         12-3pm. Come tour the farm and join us for some veggie tasting. 

 

(10)   East of Eden Flower Farm

           599 Browns Point Rd

11am-2pm.  Join Julia for farm tours on the hour (11, 12 & 1) and see their beautiful array of flowers on the Bay.

 

(11)    Harvest Tide Organics

            148 Centers Point Rd

9am-12pm.  Come congratulate Eric & Bethany by joining them for  farm tours and refreshments.

 

(12)    Jellerson School & Merrymeeting Bay Museum

            2 Centers Point Rd

9am-2pm. Visit Bowdoinham's 1910 one room school house.  Then step into the attached Merrymeeting Bay Museum and learn how our unique Merrymeeting Bay and her six rivers have influenced Bowdoinham and the lives of the people living here. 

 

(13)    Meeting House

           1 Browns Point Rd

9am-2pm.  Join the Historical Society for an Open House to see what we have discovered about our fascinating town and her people and peek into the Carriage Shed for a glimpse of Bowdoinham's 1798 handtub, the Phenix.

 

(14)   Jane Page-Conway

           13 Wildes Road

10:30am-4pm.  Jane will be displaying and  both her photography and encaustic wax work.  At noon, she’ll have demonstrations of encaustic wax using a hot box, handmade papers, transparencies, and photographs.

 

(15)    Mortimer LaPointe Woodworking & Swan Island Restoration

            1191 River  Road

10am-3:30pm.  You’re invited to explore Mortimer’s shop and see his woodworking projects.

 

(16)  Steven Thomas Bunn Furnituremaker

           Hedge Hill Farm, 22 Center St

9am-4pm.  Enjoy a cup of coffee while you tour Steve’s woodshop, watch a demonstration of his Windsor chair-making and view Blue Iris Gallery's paintings by Phyllis Hartzler.

 

(17)   Catmint Garden & Gallery

           16 School St

9am-2pm.  Come explore Sarah’s gallery of paintings, cards and children's books, along with her beautiful perennial gardens.

 

(18)     Long Branch School

     25 Main St

12-3pm.  Tour and learn about the Tiny Home.

 

(19)      Cathance Place

             9 Main St

 

        Watersong Music

10am-3pm.  Come check out Earl’s music studio and see where all the magic happens. Earl will be hosting our group space with Bloom, Starrocks and Melissa Fiori.

 

     Merrymeeting Arts Center

10am-3pm.  The Arts Center’s

Summer Exhibit, “Hallowed Ground, Forgotten Voices ” will be open.    

 

(20)     Pottery Project

             6 Main St

10am-3pm.  Come tour our pottery studio and see what we’re working on.

 

 

Barbecue, 3-6pm  

 

(21)   Mailly Waterfront Park

 1 Main St

  3-6pm.  Join us for a Barbecue featuring fresh foods from local farms and live music!  The Barbeque will be catered by Texas Barbeque Co., Mark and Jen Wescott matched their love of Barbeque with the catering business in 2012 and are looking forward to applying their special recipes with locally grown and raised products! As they have a busy season lined up, they have teamed up with members of Village Lodge # 26 AF & AM the local Masonic Lodge in Bowdoinham.  Masonry is one of the oldest Fraternities in the world and their charity within this community is extensive. Bowdoinham Historical Society will also be joining the barbeque with their famous strawberry shortcake.
