Stephanie Austen

Stephanie has been making pottery since she was a little girl.  Her interest in clay led her to study pottery at East Carolina University and eventually receiving her B.F.A. in ceramics from the Maine College of Art in 2002.  Stephanie’s functional work and interest in atmospheric firings brought her participate in a group wood-kiln firing at Gustin Ceramics in South Dartmouth, MA, and where she later became an apprentice in 2004.  Her knowledge and experience in clay has allowed her the opportunity to teach at places such as:  Sawyer Street Studios in South Portland, ME, Castle Hill Arts in Truro, MA, the Maine College of Art’s continuing studies program, and The Pottery Project here in Bowdoinham.  After spending the last ten years focused on her landscape gardening business, SEA Bloom Landscapes, she is now returning to the studio in the hopes of becoming a full-time studio potter.
