News and Updates
10/09/2019: In an effort to keep everyone informed, here is an update on the improvements needed on Carding Machine road and the estimated time table for completion. The work necessary includes drainage, multiple culvert replacements, adding materials to the road bed, grading and paving. Several things negatively impacted the progress of this project which had been slated for Fall 2019. One significant issue was that there was a change in Town Management which directly impacted the guidance of Public Works and momentum of the project.

09/27/2019: The Town of Bowdoinham is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Public Works Foreman. This is a supervisory position that requires the candidate both supervise and work with employees engaged in public works operations.
09/26/2019: The Town of Bowdoinham is soliciting quotations for demolition and clean-up of the former Public Works site at 8 River Road in Bowdoinham, Maine. Bids will be opened and read aloud at the Bowdoinham Town Office, 13 School Street, Bowdoinham, Maine 04008 on October 17, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. A Pre-bid meeting will be held onsite on October 3, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. The work includes building demolition and removal, removal of concrete slabs and foundations, collection and disposal of metals and miscellaneous solid waste, and general site clean-up activities.
09/20/2019: This is to follow-up on the memo on the back of your Tax Bill, (attached below). There has been a number of questions about the 20% increase on Building Values. Why? In order to maintain our certified ratio of 100% and comply with State Statues. This directly affects exemptions and reimbursements from the State. Shouldn’t the Mil Rate Come Down?

08/26/2019: The Town of Bowdoinham has hired Thomas Woodin as its next Town Manager. Woodin will start September 9, filling the position left vacant by the resignation of William Post in July.
08/23/2019: We’ve all done it - judged a book by its cover. Debuting Nov. 2nd through Nov. 30th, 2019, The Merrymeeting Arts Center in cooperation with the Bowdoinham Public Library, will be hosting a show all about books! From the artistry of book making to the beauty of book covers, illustrations and fonts to the telling of a story, books enrich our lives in many ways. This show will encourage you to stretch your mind and consider forms and uses for books other than simply reading them.
08/23/2019: On Saturday, September 21st from 9am to 4pm at the Meeting House located on the corner of River (Rt. 24) and Brown’s Point Roads the BHS will be hosting its annual Super Yard Sale! Last year the sale made over $6,000 and all proceeds go to Merrymeeting Hall, our up and coming Community Center!
