Cathance River Trails Volunteer Day

Event Location

Cathance River Trailhead, near yellow building at the Waterfront Park

The Cathance River Trails in the village have made it through the winter in good shape.  Some touch up work needs to be done, however.  The Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) is hosting a volunteer workday to prepare the trails for the season ahead on Saturday, May 6 starting at 10:00 (rain date is May 12).  Please meet by the bulletin board at the start of the trails—just beyond the “Yellow House” at the bridge.  We will be checking trail signs, doing some brush clean-up, and will make sure all is ready.

Last season, the three trails got some professional trail markers, had a major culvert and road upgrade (thank you Public Works), benefitted from some brown tail moth removal, and had two benches installed.  This season, we can look forward to some exciting developments.  The Merrymeeting Arts Center is hoping to install some of Bryce Muir’s whimsical outdoor sculptures which will enliven the area.  The Aging Committee is also talking about rating the trails for accessibility and may have recommendations for future improvements.

Please join us on Saturday, May 5.  While it isn’t necessary, you may email Wendy Rose at [email protected] to let her know if you plan to attend.
