Bowdoinham Community Organizations - COVID-19 Updates

Bowdoinham Public Library

The library will not be open hours due to the Municipal Building being closed.  During this closure, the Library has placed a little Library outside.  One shelf of clean books to browse and borrow and one shelf of clean library books for folks who have specifically reserved them by email.  Please email with your titles or requests.

Merrymeeting Arts Center

Consistent with the CDC's recommended protocols for containing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Merrymeeting Arts Center is postponing EQUINAUXION 2020 and the Adult Spelling Bee, originally scheduled for March 21, 2020, along with all other classes and activities, until further notice.

We thank all artists who have generously donated their work for the art auction and regret any inconvenience this has caused to artists and members of the community. EQUINAUXION 2020, and other activities, will be rescheduled, pending developments in the spread of the virus and recommendations from the CDC with regard to safe practices for containing the virus and protecting the public health.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Stay healthy.

Bowdoinham Historical Society & Merrymeeting Hall

Out of concern for our community, Bowdoinham Historical Society and Merrymeeting Hall have cancelled all planned events and gatherings through May 15th. We will reassess the situation at that time.

Meanwhile we will continue to study and find ways to share online the BHS Theme for 2020.  “Bowdoinham and Beyond, 1820”.  We would love to have folks read either books written in 1820, or ones which were written about that time.  If people are interested, we could create an online discussion group.  We will also work with the library to create a list of such books and their availability in the library or other places. If you are interested in this idea, email Betsy Steen

It’s also a great time to study your genealogy which can be done online, write your family history for your grandchildren, do some deed research on your house (Online deed search Sagadahoc County.!/search).

Happy Birthday Maine Variety Show

In the spirit of social distancing, the decision has been made to postpone the Variety Show. We will keep you posted on a date/time when things becoming clearer.  Until then, stay well! And we look forward to coming together when the time is right.
