Dirt Roads in Bowdoinham
(February 28, 2020)
During the storm yesterday, I spent three hours out and about with Public Works Foreman Troy Voutour and Code Enforcement Office Darren Carey traveling around town assessing the conditions of the dirt roads in town. Some of the roads we examined were Pratt Rd, Post Rd, Ridge Rd, Dingley Rd and Carding Machine Road. The conditions varied from potholes and washboard conditions to standing water, very deep mud and severe ruts. It has worsened the road conditions that we received heavy rain amounts and we have had seasonal cold weather mixed in with warm weather that melts the frost and softens the roads. In some instances, we have also had reports of large trucks traveling these posted roads which further damages the roads.
We recognize and acknowledge these poor conditions. We are addressing them. Public Works is working diligently to stabilize and repair the roads as best they can. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Thank you. Tom Woodin, Town Manager
