Bowdoinham Community Connections
Program Summary
Bowdoinham Community Connections offers individualized, neighborly support to connect neighbors, forge new friendships, and identify and access resources that support health and well-being. We do not provide direct personal care but, rather, help people access available community-based resources.
Who does this program serve?
Bowdoinham residents
How are Volunteers trained?
Volunteers receive background checks through the University of Maine and are trained in how to work professionally and confidentially with community members.
Is there a cost for Bowdoinham Community Connections?
No. This is a free pilot program.
Can you give an example of Bowdoinham Community Connections services?
A volunteer worked with an 80-year-old gentleman who could not find affordable food because he recently stopped driving. When the volunteer met with the gentleman, he also asked for help with a broken storm door. The volunteer helped him sign up to receive weekly food delivery from the Bowdoinham Food Pantry, and connected him with the Handy Brigade to repair his broken storm door.
