&                     Acknowledge the receipt of the $5,000 prize for winning the 2024 WinterKids Winter Games Gold Medal competition, and in accordance with Board practice to accept the $5,000 prize 

 

√         Benjamin Chonko and Jonathan Munsey, Mt. Ararat High School students – each a recipient of a $2,000 francophone studies stipend from the AATF Societe Honoraire de Francais, the only nationally recognized honor society for high school students of French

 

√             Acknowledge receipt of a Maine DOE Maine Outdoor Learning Initiative grant in the amount of $70,560, and in accordance with Board practice to accept the grant funding in the amount of $70,560

 

√             Acknowledge receipt of $1,000 donation from the Ben Bernier Foundation to support the Mt. Ararat High School snacks program, and in accordance with Board practice to accept the donation in the amount of $1,000

 

√          Imogen Dedek – Mt. Ararat Middle School 6th grader – Sagadahoc County winner for her poem “I am a Crow.”  The Telling Room, a literary arts education organization, which supports writing education in schools, recently announced the State and County winners for its annual writing contest.  Each County winner will be published in an upcoming anthology and receive a cash prize of $50.

 

√          Congratulations to the Mt. Ararat Middle School Jazz Band which participated in its regional festival and qualified for states for the first time ever.  Congratulations go to Band Director Josh Hyssong and the Jazz Band.

 

√          Kelly McCarthy, Mt. Ararat Middle School 7th grade science teacher – nominated for Sagadahoc County’s Teacher of the Year Award

                                    

            √         Woodside Spelling Bee update:

 

√          Woodside School Spelling Bee Champion & Sagadahoc County Spelling Bee 3rd place --- Zoey Snow (Woodside Elementary School 5th grade)

√         Senior Ethan Palmer – KVAC Class A Champion (55M hurdles and triple jump)  Broke the school and KVAC records for triple jump – 46-9.25

√         Senior Ben Therriault – KBAC Class A Runner-up (55M hurdles and high jump)

 

√         Sophomore Ashby Hayward – KVAC Class A Runner-up (pole vault)

 

√         Junior Ryan Sweet, Junior Eli Burt, Sophomore Randall LaGrange and Senior Caleb Russell – KVAC Class A Runners-up (4x200M relay)

 

√         Boys Basketball team lost on February 13th in the Class A South Preliminary game at Fryeburg Academy 52-45 bringing their season to a close

 

√         Eagles Wrestling team competed on February 10th in the Class A State Wrestling Championship at Cony High School! Two wrestlers, Freshman Evan Kowalsky (113 lbs – 3rd  place) and Sophomore Trevor Wilkinson (190 lbs – 4th place) led the Eagles and “reached the podium” at the meet (where they were formally recognized and presented a medal for their placement finish).

 

√         Girls Ice Hockey team on February 10th was awarded the MPA Sportsmanship Award for the North Region. 

 

√         Cuyler Greene, Boys Indoor Track Team Coach – named a KVAC Class A Indoor Track Coach of the Year

 

√         On February 7th, the Girls Ice Hockey team concluded its season, following a first-round playoff loss to top-seeded Yarmouth/Freeport. 

 

√         Congratulations go to the Girls Basketball team on finishing the finest regular season in school history, winning a school-record 16 regular games.

 

√         KVAC Class A Championship Swim Meet on February 10th:

 

√         Boys 200 Medley Relay – Junior Josh Langworthy, Senior Aidan Saunders, Senior Keegan Rowe, Senior Bradan Leeman (1:41.67)

√         Senior Keegan Rowe-State Champion in the 100 Butterfly, 3rd place in the Boys 50 Freestyle

 

√         Senior Aidan Saunders – State Champion in the 100 Breaststroke; 3rd place in the Boys 50 Freestyle

6.1                   To consider the appointment of Andrew Morris to a one-year position of Social Studies teacher at Mt. Ararat Middle School at Master’s +15, Step S (prorated to a retroactive start date of February 26, 2024)

 

6.2                  In accordance with Board policy, to consider the approval of an out-of-State overnight trip by the Woodside One Wheelers from April 11-14, 2024

 

6.3                  In accordance with Board policy, to consider the approval of an out-of-State field trip on June 6, 2024, by Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh graders to Boston, MA
