Bill Becklean, Coxswain 1956 Gold Medal US Olympian Rowing Team to Speak on his Olympic experience and “Boys in the Boat”

Save the date and join us on June 22 at 1PM when the Loose Ladies Book Club, Bowdoinham Rowing and the Bowdoinham Public Library will host Bill Becklean, coxswain of the 1956 gold medal U.S. Olympic Rowing Team.  

Mr. Becklean will speak on his Olympic experience in Melbourne, Australia, and lead a discussion of the book “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown.

The Loose Ladies Book Club’s book choice for June is “The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.” The book, written in 2013, is a true story with fascinating history.

The event will take place at the Bowdoinham Town Hall (tentative location),13 School St., at 1PM on June 22. If you want to read the book ahead, reserve a copy at the library: 666-8405. Refreshments will be served. Free of charge. Hope to see you there!
