05/08/2019: What is rabies? Rabies is a disease that is caused by a virus. It affects the brain and spinal cord and can cause death if left untreated. Rabies in people is very rare in the United States, but rabies in animals - especially wildlife - is common in most parts of the country including Maine. An animal with rabies is called a “rabid” animal. How is rabies spread?
05/03/2019: The Town is currently seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year. This award is presented to the selected nominee at the annual Celebrate Bowdoinham event in September. The criteria for this award are as follows: • The Citizen of the Year award recipient shall be an outstanding individual recognized for their impact on the lives of Bowdoinham citizens, a special individual who shows dedication and spirit beyond what is considered regular duty.
04/19/2019: One new feature of this redesigned website is the Weekly Digest. This feature will send you an email once per week (on the weekend) and inform you of new events and meetings for the coming week. It also will provide you with any new posts on the website. 03/08/2019: We gather Monday mornings from 9-12 to continue to make Merrymeeting Hall ready for use. All are welcome. Just stop by and take a look at what is going on. Though it will be unfinished, we would love to to have Merrymeeting Hall open in mid-late March. To help out or inquire about using Merrymeeting Hall, please contact
03/08/2019: We are so excited for our second season at Peary’s Garden to begin! We’re taking applications—come join your neighbors and grow your own food and flowers this year in Bowdoinham’s community garden, located on Sadie Lane (behind the Farm Cart).
03/08/2019: The Clothes Closet will be opening again on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6pm beginning March 13th. We will have spring and summer clothes out. Donations of clean clothes in good condition can be dropped off during those hours. Anyone is welcome to “shop” at the Clothes Closet. The clothes are free, but donations are welcome and help with expenses. The Clothes Closet is located at the Nazarene church on the corner of School and Main Streets (7 School St.).
02/05/2019: After many months of planning and work, the Town is pleased to launch its new website. There are some new features that you may enjoy, including a link to reserve a meeting room at the Coombs Municipal Building or to rent the Town Hall and Gazebo at the Mailly Waterfront Park and a "Weekly Digest" of new announcements and events that you can sign up to receive by email. Every part of the website is new and revised in hopes that you will fin the information you are looking for easier and faster.
01/10/2019: State Law requires all dogs six months and older to be licensed by January 1st, however there is a grace period of January 31st before a late fee is incurred. Neutered/Spayed Dog - $6.00 Not Neutered Dog - $11.00
01/10/2019: We are once again recycling glass and all plastics numbered 1 through 7. If using curbside pick up, please separate your items in accordance with the recycling guidelines. Remember not all plastics are recyclable, if it does not have a number it cannot be recycled.
