Wildes Road Wildlife Management Area

Welcome to the Wildes Road Wildlife Management Area! 

The Bowdoinham Wildlife Management Area is a beautiful stroll or bike ride from the main road. With great wildlife and plenty to explore this is one of the most popular public lands in Bowdoinham. Great views of the water and picnic areas can be found at this kid and dog friendly site. In the winter snowmobilers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers alike can enjoy this open snow-covered field. At all times of year it is beautiful at dusk, the golden hour looks extra magical through the trees! Be sure to visit all of our town’s public lands for the true Bowdoinham experience!


Hours: None – Always Open to The Public

Parking: There is street parking at the end of the road and your destination is just a short walk, or bike ride, past the gate. For events the gate is open, but it is typically closed to cars on any given day. (See directions below) 

Activities: Spring/Summer/Fall - Bird Watching, Walking, Biking and Picnicking       Winter – Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing

Trail Length: .75 Miles to the Point - 1.5 Miles Round Trip 

With additional walking paths and adventures in the field the length of this trail could be extended to around 2.5 miles

  • Dog and Family Friendly!
  • Easy Walk
  • Public Restroom 
  • Can get muddy after the rain and the long grasses are beautiful, but the perfect environment for ticks. Be mindful of this and be sure to do a tick-check after visiting!

Open fires and camping are not permitted at this location.
