Celebrate Bowdoinham

Event Location

Mailly Waterfront Park

Join us in celebrating Bowdoinham’s 261st Birthday! Celebrate is back with fun for the whole family. Come on out and enjoy the festivities. This year will feature lots to see and do, with fine art displays, kids activities, games, demonstrations, and more!  Questions about the event can be sent to Yvette Meunier at planning@bowdoinham.com

HUNGRY? Find a variety of tasty local eats at the waterfront, including farmers market vendors and pie contest entrees by the slice. Frosty pints and hot wings can be found at Three Robbers Pub, and deli items and ice cream cones at Bowdoinham Country Store!

Parade Participant Contest: This year's parade participants will automatically be entering the contest to win cash prize of $250 for best float. Floats will be judged on incorporation of the theme "Making a splash on Merrymeeting Bay", craftsmanship, and appeal.

Pie Contest: Drop off your pie and recipe at the Food Pantry on Sept.15th between 3-5pm for a chance to win first place and $150! Both sweet and savory pies are welcome. All entries must have at least one crust. Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd ($100) and 3rd ($50) place pies. For more information, please contact planning@bowdoinham.com. The pies will be sold by the slice the following day during the main festivities. The proceeds of this event will go to Bowdoinham Food Pantry.

Zucchini Races: Zucchini will need to be fitted with or mounted on the wheels of your choice, and decorated (or not) in any way you wish. There will be prizes awarded for fastest zucchinis and best decorated zucchinis. Register at 11AM on Sunday, September 17, at the skatepark.

Merrymeeting Trail Bike Rides                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) invites you to participate in a group bike tour through parts of Bowdoinham and Richmond along the interim on-road route of the Merrymeeting Trail.  Meet at Mailly waterfront park at 1PM.  This beautiful route passes through some of the richest farmland in the state along the shores of Merrymeeting Bay. We'll see some of the same scenic areas in the region as can be seen from the rail line, where we hope to one day walk or ride with you along the off-road Merrymeeting Trail.  The midpoint of the ride will be in Richmond, with the turnaround at Fort Richmond waterfront park. We'll stop frequently. Total distance is 18 mi, with a turn back option for a 10 mi route. The bike tour will be paced for beginner or intermediate riders.

NOTICE - Mailly Waterfront Park and lower Main Street will be closed to all unauthorized vehicular traffic on Thursday, September 14th for Celebrate Bowdoinham.
