Below is a summary of the revisions that have been made to the new concept plans since the first public meeting through input and feedback from the public, town, and MaineDOT to be discussed at the 3-31-25 meeting:

  1. After the public meeting, Bay Road, River Road, and Main Street striping were modified to have 10’ travel lanes and 4’ shoulders and then revised back to 11’ travel lanes and 3’ shoulders through DOT, town, and study team input.
  2. Shifted the boat ramp parking layout and park entrance to avoid impacts on the bathhouse. We also coordinated the entrance to the second park with Pine Tree Engineering.
  3. Engineered the boat ramp parking area and now show it on these graphics.
  4. Revised the River Road intersection with Back Hill Street and Spring Street from a 4-way stop to a 2-way stop.
  5. Eliminated the all-way stop at the Main Street and River Road intersection and propose a raised crosswalk near Three Robbers Pub instead.
  6. Revised the sidewalk design near the gas station.
  7. Shifted the gateway treatments to be further away from the village on all three state road approaches (Bay Road, River Road, Main Street). The gateway treatment on Bay Road will be located near Wallentine Road, the gateway treatment on River Road will be located north of Ridge Road, and the gateway treatment on Main Street will be just south of the Post Road and Fisher Road intersection.
  8. Proposing two additional speed humps or raised crosswalks on each approach inside of the gateway treatments to slow traffic.
  9. Adding rapid flashing beacon assemblies at numerous crosswalk locations.
  10. Shifting the locations of 25 mph speed limit signs to be outside the gateway treatment areas and are adding speed feedback signs at those locations.
  11. Modified the geometry of the River Road intersection with Back Hill Street and Spring Street, relocated the crosswalks, and added a truck apron to reduce the intersection size.
  12. Revised design of the Main Street Extension is now one-way with parking and a sidewalk. This will serve as Option 1. Option 2 for the Main Street Extension will be a shared street.
